As your constituent, I urge you to take action to protect Americans from financially devastating scams and fraud.

There are three bills making their way through Congress that I ask you to support and help pass into law:

— The GUARD Act (S. 2544/H.R.2978), which funds state and local law enforcement agencies so they can hire and train staff, and secure the tools needed to combat fraud in our communities.
— The Tax Relief for Victims of Crimes, Scams, and Disasters Act (S.1773/H.R.3469), which would prevent the IRS from sending victims of crime a tax bill on the money stolen from them. 
—  STOP Scams Against Seniors Act (H.R. 6426), which would empower state, local, and federal law enforcement agencies to better coordinate in pursuing and prosecuting criminals who exploit older adults.

Fraud is on the rise, growing 43% last year according to the FBI. Something must be done. These three bills are a good step toward protecting Americans from fraud, and they are desperately needed. Please help move these, and other anti-scam bills, forward quickly.
